Jason's Blog:

April 1, 2008

I'm sorry that its taken me so long to get a new post up here, but there has been a ton going on in my life...all good stuff, so here it goes:   First, my wife, Michelle and I have welcomed our second son, Cooper, last Wednesday.  He is absolutely perfect, and it's hard to say at 7 lbs 14 oz if he will follow in my footsteps, but I can already tell that he has the heart of a champion, and I am looking forward to spending so much time with him and his big brother CJ.

Wrapping up the 2007 season was nice in Hawaii, but pretty disappointing that we didn't get to Arizona.  It was tough to swallow the Giants loss, especially when we had such a great regular season, but I am happy for the Giants, and will be fired up to get back on the field again this year to finish what we started.   We are at the beginning stages of our off season training.  Lots of lifting and conditioning.  Football season never really ends, and it is always important to stay in shape and get stronger and quicker...that's why we all work so hard each day in the gym.  I can't say that it is the most fun thing to do everyday, but being around all of the guys again and having the opportunity to begin to set our individual and team goals for 2008 is always exciting.

Now for my "call to action" of all of my fans, especially those of you here in Dallas.  On May 18th I will be hosting my major fundraiser for Jason Witten's SCORE Foundation, the All-Star Bowl 2008.  It will be a great time.  We will have a top notch steak dinner from Del Frisco's, great door prizes, goodie bags, silent and live auctions, and, best of all you have the opportunity to bowl with me and all of my friends.  That's right, Tony, TO, Marion, will all be there as well as some Cowboys legends, high profile media members, entertainers, players from other teams/leagues, Cheerleaders.

I can't think of a better way to spend an evening than with my family, friends and fans, and best of all give to the causes that are so close to my heart.  So sign up!  I want to see my biggest and best fans pack the place and raise a ton of money to help people who need it.  You have always supported me at Texas Stadium, now I am asking you to spend one Sunday with me in the Spring, too!   That's all for now...more good things to come soon.   Thanks for visiting and thanks for supporting me!

December 7, 2007

Hey everybody! I am happy to finally have my website up and running and to have this opportunity to stay in touch with my fans.

Today has been an exciting day, because I officially launched my new charitable foundation – the Jason Witten S.C.O.R.E. Foundation, with a big Christmas party at Speed Zone in Dallas.

The foundation is dedicated to assisting families in crisis, and one of the biggest things I want to do with it is help those families broken apart by domestic violence. I really want to try and educate the young kids who are witness to it in hopes of breaking the cycle of violence, because studies show that young boys who come from violence tend to commit violent acts themselves when they grow up. It's important to me to try and break that trend.

I'm really excited about what we were able to do today. We treated 30 families from The Family Place, one of the largest shelters in Dallas, to a big party at Speed Zone. If you've never been there, it's a blast. We played all sorts of games with the kids and they got to see Santa and open all sorts of gifts. The moms also got some nice gifts too, and it was really nice to see the looks on their faces at this event.

Not only that, but I was fortunate to work with Aaron's Furniture to provide a ton of brand new furniture for The Family Place. You wouldn’t believe all the furniture they took there – couches, tables, a big screen, an Xbox. This is all great stuff that will help these displaced families feel a little more at home while they are there.

The best thing is that this is just the beginning. We are going to be doing lots of programs over the next few months that will try and bring comfort to people who need it.

Well, I have to get ready to hit the road to Detroit tomorrow and help us try and get that 12th win, so I better take off. I'll be in touch again next week. Take care!
